My Creamy Matcha Latte with Easy Homemade Almond Milk Recipe

How to Make a Matcha Latte at Home with Homemade Almond Milk

Every morning, I start my day with the same delicious, green treat—a matcha latte. Matcha is my idea of the perfect pick-me-up. Made from finely ground green tea leaves, it boasts a slew of health benefits, and it tastes delicious, too. With a cup of matcha, I get the perfect blend of a healthy, energizing drink without the typical jitters that come from coffee.

Over time, I’ve perfected my own special recipe that I think you’ll love. It’s simple, creamy, and made with a few easy hacks that make it effortless to whip up. Instead of relying on store-bought dairy alternatives, I use my homemade almond milk—quick, easy, and far better than anything you can buy.

The best part of my morning matcha latte ritual is the ritual itself. Taking the time to make my tea allows me to slow down, set an intention, and reflect on the day ahead. There’s something grounding about the process, from whisking the matcha to pouring the perfectly frothed milk into the cup. It’s a small act of self-care that makes all the difference.

Why Matcha?

  • Sustained Energy: Unlike coffee, matcha provides a steady release of energy without the crash.
  • Packed with Antioxidants: Matcha is rich in catechins, which help fight free radicals.
  • Boosts Focus and Calm: Thanks to L-theanine, matcha promotes relaxation and mental clarity.
  • Supports Metabolism: It may help with fat oxidation and overall metabolism support.

  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions:

  1. Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender for about 30 seconds until smooth.
  2. Pour into a glass jar or airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  3. Shake before using, and enjoy creamy, fresh almond milk whenever you need it!

How to Make the Perfect Matcha Latte

Tools You'll Need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon ceremonial-grade matcha
  • 8 ounces homemade almond milk (do not heat to more than around 175°F)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions:

  1. Add 8 ounces of homemade almond milk to milk frother.
  2. Add the matcha (you can sift if desire to remove clumps).
  3. Add 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  4. Heat your homemade almond milk  + Matcha and froth it using a milk frother or whisk.
  5. For extra creamy and frothy - froth some almond milk separately and Pour the frothed almond milk over your matcha.

Tips & Hacks for the Best Matcha Latte

  • Use high-quality ceremonial-grade matcha for the best flavor and smoothest texture.
  • Avoid boiling or temps above 175°F—it can make matcha taste bitter.
  • Whisk like a pro—if not using a frother use quick, back-and-forth motions to get that perfect froth.
  • Make it iced—just blend matcha with cold almond milk, and pour over ice.

Making matcha at home is one of my favorite parts of the day, and I hope this simple recipe brings a little joy to your mornings, too. Let me know if you try it—I’d love to hear how it turns out!
